Charlotte Open & US Nationals
10.11.2009

I hate to say it but this race was not a great turnout for me. The week of training before the race was really fun and went well for me. Therefore, I was really confident about the race on the weekend, but maybe a little too confident. Friday was the first day of racing and the course that was set looked very challenging. I thought it was challenging too, especially after my run which was unfortunately disappointing. I still had a second run on this day but I just could not get my act together. There were a lot of things I did really well but there were also things I did that were pretty stupid.

The second day of racing was on Saturday and although I did not do well the day before I still had hopes of a good performance. Sadly, there was not much of a difference between the second day and the first. I guess that I just lost my focus at the beginning of this race and could not regain it.

I learned a lot from this race as a result of my faulty performance. I can try to work on the mistakes I made in the race this fall and winter and make sure that they don't happen again. I also saw a lot of good racers here from Slovenia, Canada, and France. Watching them race was pretty interesting with their unique paddling style and technical abilities. Anyways, I still had fun and got to see some of my friends from around the country.
