The
first race of the season this year and every year is the Glacierbreaker.
Every year on the Nantahala river, the Nantahala Racing Club hosts
this race as a kick off. This time it turned out well, the weather
was sunny and we had great volunteers.
For
me, this race is kind of a display of what I've been working on
all winter and fall. For the past couple years, I have seen improvement
in my results and this time the result was even greater. The fact
that I placed first in the junior class does not say much as there
was only one other junior. This time, my level of competition was
more in the senior category and I was very happy about my performance.
My
first run didn't turn out to be great but my second run was significantly
better. I was around four seconds faster but unfortunately I had
had a penalty. My time put me in second place but a single penalty
put me in fourth place. The top three results were Eric Hurd, Jim
Wade, and Nathan Davis. Congratulations guys!
